Fuerteventura Surf
Fuerteventura has some of the best surf In the Canary Islands and is considered one of the best places in Europe for heavy, uncrowded waves. Depending on the weather, swell direction and your experience you should be able to find some good uncrowded surf spots on the island.
For Beginners sandy bottomed beach breaks like El Cotillo (6/7km from Casa De Verano), Glass and Flag beach (3/4km from Casa De Verano) are ideal for learning the basics and relaxing on the beautiful sandy Fuerteventura beaches. For Intermediates and Experienced surfers Fuerteventura will deliver the goods! with Majanicho and Yarro being the most consistent. From October to April big Atlantic open ocean swells hit the North shore of Fuerteventura and provide consistent, powerful surf.
In terms of what to wear in the water, wintertime visitors will be comfortable in a light full suit or shorty, whilst summertime is board short weather.

Surf Spots In Fuerteventura
1. Playa de Esquinzo.
Drive south of Cotillo Just before you cross the riverbed take the small trail down to the shore. The beach is surrounded by high cliffs powerful waves break over a sandy bottom.
2. Cotillo.
The beach "Playa de Castillo" is south of the village it's a 1km long beach break. Especially good for beginners. If the waves are not closing out the break has powerful and fast left and right-handers.
3. Hiero/yarro.
2 excellent Reef breaks about 1 km west from Majanicho. Heirro is a long Right and Yarro is a powerful lefthander. Both Breaks are good on a small swell.

4. The Bubble.
A good Point break on a flat Reef 100m to the right of Yarro. It's not very long but it’s a fast and very powerful wave with good tubes watch out for the shallow reef.
5. Majanicho.
Is a group of little houses at the end of the trail from Lajares to the north shore. It’s a Point break with long rides when the swell is big.
6. Mechihonas.
A reef break with very constant Waves, surfable on all tides. If you can't find good waves here, you won't find them anywhere on the north shore. Good Spot on a small and big swell.
7. Shooting Gallery/Bristol’s.
Only 100m along from Corralejo, in front of the distillation plant it breaks over a flat reef. The Spot is surfable on all tides, fast and hollow at low tide lots of locals.
8. Corralejo Surf Spots.
Depending on the wind direction and size of the swell Corralejo has 3 spots. The most constant wave is the Reef break at the harbor wall "El Muelle" to the north of the town. "Rocky Point" another reef break is located in the protected bay and needs a big north swell to break well. If you prefer a beach break Flag Beach and Glass Beach can have good waves on a big swell.
9. Los Lobos Island.
Iis a little volcano Island 2 km from Corralejo. There is a public Boat there daily. It's one of the best spots in the Canary Islands, A long right hander with rides in excess of 150 yards it's a 20min walk from the boat landing stage. (This spot is also a good indicator, If you can see the white water on the rocks from Corralejo you know its breaking. You also know if it is there are going to be waves all along the North shore of Fuerteventura.
10. Puerto del Rosario.
Puerto del Rosario is the capital of Fuerteventura and has a reef break north of the lighthouse.
11. Morro del Jable and Jandia.
Close to the lighthouse is a beach break which for this region has a good right hander on big days.
12. Puerto de la Cruz.
Puerto de la Cruz is on the southwest of the peninsula Jandia. Reached from Morro del Jable on a off-road Trail. Punta del Tigre is further west from Puerto de la Cruz at "Punta de Jandia" is a powerful break over a flat reef with strong currents.
13.La Pard.
La Pared is a small and more or less bleak resort in a bleak landscape on the west coast. There is a beach break which is not really a top spot but has constant swell.
Other Surf Spots Around Fuerteventura.
As to not upset the locals to much I have not listed all the possibilities above. There are some epic surf spots in Fuerteventura and empty peaks to be had, you'll just have to discover them yourself! But hey that’s half the fun.
